Belmont Savings announces partnership with World Marathon Challenge participant Becca Pizzi
BELMONT - Belmont Savings Bank today announced a multi-tier partnership with upcoming World Marathon Challenge participant Becca Pizzi, including a recent meet and greet with the Belmont resident at the bank’s main branch in Belmont Center. Pizzi is on track to make history as the first American woman to complete the World Marathon Challenge, which will have her running seven marathons on seven continents in seven days.
The partnership with Pizzi includes a $1,000 donation to Belmont charity of her choice, the Belmont Food Pantry. Following her return from the races, the bank is also sponsoring a welcome home celebration and student and parent lecture given by Pizzi on the importance of goals and endurance.
“We are so thrilled to be supporting Becca as she prepares to make history as the first American woman to run seven marathons on seven continents in seven days. It’s just a tremendous undertaking, and we wish her the absolute best,” said Bob Mahoney, President and Chief Executive Officer of Belmont Savings. “Becca has long-time connections with the bank, but beyond that we recognize this as a monumental, historic opportunity to assist a member of the Belmont community.”
The January 14th sendoff gave well-wishers an opportunity to meet with Pizzi, receiving an autograph poster from the challenger, as well as complimentary ice cream from Moozy’s in Belmont Center, where Pizzi is a manager. Pizzi also posed for pictures during the two-hour availability.
In addition to the meet and greet, the bank will be hosting a website tracker during Pizzi’s competitions, which will provide updates from the World Marathon Challenge. Once back in Belmont, the bank will again host a homecoming with Pizzi, and the aforementioned speaking engagements at local schools.
“Partnering with a wonderful community bank like Belmont Savings reiterates my interest in making these challenges about more than myself,” said Pizzi. “Their encouragement will not only inspire me during my marathon challenge, but will hopefully yield a great impact across Belmont as a whole. I thank the bank for their support, and look forward for a fruitful, ongoing relationship.”
The global marathons begin on January 23 and include the Union Glacier Antarctica, Chile, Miami, Madrid, Morocco, Dubai, and Sydney. To track Pizzi’s progress, please visit https://www.belmontsavings.com/community/becca-pizzis-world-marathon-challenge/ .
