Belmont Savings Bank Foundation Pledges $7,500 Matching Grant to Belmont Boosters
BELMONT - Belmont Savings Bank Foundation today announced it will provide a matched dollar for dollar contribution up to $7,500 following the October 18th contribution drive initiated by the Belmont Boosters.
Every October, the Boosters run a fundraising program where Belmont High student athletes solicit donations through a door-to-door initiative. With the matching grant from the Belmont Savings Bank Foundation, the Boosters hope to make this year their largest fundraising effort.
“We are thrilled to be matching the efforts of our student-athletes, who work so hard alongside the Booster parent volunteers to make sure their programs are properly funded,” said Hal
The Belmont Boosters are a parent-run organization whose mission is to provide funding for items unfunded by the Belmont High School Athletic Department budget. The Boosters directly fund the school athletics program through individual grant requests, the purchase of varsity letterman’s outerwear and investing in capital equipment and facilities. Previously the Boosters funded the White Field House and BHS Fitness Center upgrades and the replacement of the floor at Wenner Field House.
On October 18, approximately 150-200 student-athletes will be divided into teams and follow a route in Belmont to solicit contributions through door-to-door engagement with the community. In exchange for a contribution of $20, supporters receive a Belmont “B” which can be displayed in a window in support of the school athletic program. Once the drive is complete, the Foundation will match the total in a contribution to the Boosters.
Each team is supervised by a volunteer parent-driver. The door-to-door effort typically lasts for about three hours.
The mission of the Foundation is to provide financial support to organizations in the communities served by Belmont Savings Bank, particularly those committed towards education, health and human services, youth programs, and affordable housing.
